Bal Kalyan Secondary School is located at a distance of about 4 KM south west of headquarters of Lamjung District. Students come here to study on foot from a distance of approximately 1.5 hours of walk. The parents of most of the students are small or low income farmers. This is a mixed society of Brahman, Chetri, Gurung, Magar and Dalits. The school has 55% male students and 35% female students. 8% of total female and 16% of total male students in this school come from Dalit communities.
