COPPADES strives to address the existing gap between the rural and the urban and the rich and the poor with regards to access to information and educational opportunities. Particularly the students studying in the public schools in rural areas gravely lack the knowledge of digital technology and the use of computers in learning. COPPADES, since 2001, has implemented in collaboration with World Computer Exchange, a US based NGO that works for bridging the digital gap. COPPADES has also received support from Computer Aid International, UK, and Department for International Development (DFID) Nepal in the process. So far over 400 public schools and community libraries have acquired a minimum of five computers each including training on the use of computer and the Internet and other follow up and advisory support. The use of the Internet has been a rapidly growing phenomenon in the present day world. The Internet has made a great impact on the way people work in business, health, agriculture, human rights issues, and governance. Through this project COPPADES has contributed to building a much needed IT related human resource to cope with the growing use of digital technology.
Locally COPPADES has collaborated with Rotary International District chapter in the implementation of the project.
